To celebrate the opening of their first store in Basel, Switzerland, coinciding with Art Basel this June 2018, COS displayed Julie & Jesse’s Fragment(s) installation in their window.
A conversation on reinvention – to celebrate the opening of their pop-store on Queen’s Road, COS held a panel discussion on Friday 9th March with guest speakers Marisa Yiu, Julie & Jesse, Aric Chen, Joyce Wang and Rodrigo Buelvas, based on the concept of ‘reinvention.’

Our Fragment(s) vase was exhibited alongside Yuet Tong’s hand painted porcelain at the GREAT Festival of Innovation that took place at Asia Society. The showcase was a preview for London Craft Week 2019.
For the last edition of Confluence • 20+ we unveiled our their latest experimental porcelain projects called “Déshabillé” and “Clay Bodies”.
We also created an interactive installation transforming part of the display into a live ceramic studio in which we produced a unique edition of our Fragment(s) project, casting discarded moulds brought directly from the factories of Jingdezhen, China.
The exhibition ran from the 13th of October to the 4th of November 2017 at the Chicago Design Museum. Here are a few images of the show.
For the final edition of Confluence • 20+, Julie & Jesse created an interactive installation. They transformed part of the display into a live ceramic studio in which they produced a unique edition of their Fragment(s) project, casting discarded moulds brought directly from the factories of Jingdezhen, China.
Every Friday and Saturday over the duration of the show, visitors had the opportunity to see Julie & Jesse practice their skill. Members of the public were able to engage with the duo to explore the making process, and gain an understanding of the concept behind the work all in an attempt to build connections through time and space.
To close the loop of manufacturing process and to perpetuate the story of the work, visitors also had the opportunity to acquire one of the numbered pieces in exchange of a donation to the Chicago Design Museum.
In order to make the project work, Julie & Jesse collaborated with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where they were invited as Artists in Residence. They spent one month making their work partly at the School and partly at the exhibition site allowing for exchanges both with the students and the visitors of the show.

The Hong Kong Design Center is a government-funded non-profit organization celebrating design excellence. The institution champions the creation of business values and community benefits through design. This latest exhibition series is a homage to Hong Kong’s design heritage roots and will sojourn in Milan, Hong Kong, Seoul and Chicago.
For the Hong Kong Design Centre’s Confluence • 20+ Seoul exhibition, we presented Fragment(s), Irony and Erosion. The exhibition ran from the 26th of August to the 16th of September 2017 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Seoul. Here are a few images of the show.
